Acupuncture: Calm your mind, Strengthen your health and body

Acupuncture treats

health conditions by stimulating "acu-points" by inserting very thin needles through the skin to produce physiological effects. Pain and ill health result when the flow of Qi through the body is disrupted or blocked.

This can be caused by many things, including disease, pathogens, trauma/injuries, and medication (side effects), as well as lifestyle factors such as overwork, poor diet, emotions, lack of rest, and stress.Stimulation of the appropriate acu-points through acupuncture treatments helps to restore sufficient, continuous, and even flow of Qi and other nutrients throughout the body, restoring health and balance to the body while relieving pain and other symptoms.

Moxibustion(burning herbs to heat acu-points) is primarily usedto treat a deficiency of 'yang' energy in the body. It is yang energy that governs movement and warmth, and a deficiency of yang results in cold symptoms. The patient may feel cold, or may complain of cold hands and feet. For patients who are very weak and deficient, stick moxa is chosen as a primary treatment due to the fact that it actually adds "yang qi" to the body.

GuaSha/Scrape therapy (rubbing of a ceramic spoon over the skin) is an ancientChinese healing techniques designed to increase energy and blood flow, removing stagnation while releasing stress and strain from the body. It belongs to the Chinese medicine theory of internal organs and meridians, and can complement acupuncture, cupping, massage and other no-drug treatments. By gently scraping the corresponding points on the skin's surface with a ceramic spoon, Gua Sha can "dredge" the channels and meridians, improving and invigorating circulation. Skillfully applied, it can regulate surplus blood, makes the heart and lungs healthy, relieves rheumatic pains and cold, relieves pain and stimulates and improves the immune system.

Herbal Therapy: In the course of your treatment Chinese herbal remedies may be prescribed. They may be dispensed as raw herbs or in pills, capsules, granules, or tinctures which make them easier to ingest. Most herbal formulas can treat a wide variety of symptoms while stimulating the body's natural healing process.

Cupping (suction) is a technique in which a glass cup or bamboo jar is suctioned onto the body and allowed to sit for about 10 minutes. Cupping stimulates the flow of blood, lymph, and Qi to the affected area; relieves swelling; and greatly enhances an acupuncture or electro-acupuncture treatment. Its uses include cellulite reduction, relieving muscle pain, especially back pain from stiffness or injury; and clearing congestion in the chest, which can occur with common colds and influenza.

Cupping has also been made popular by Movie Stars celebrities and Olympic athletes:

Gwyneth Paltrow said cupping “feels amazing, and it’s very relaxing, and it feels terrific. It’s just one of the alternative medicines that I do instead of taking antibiotics.”

Jennifer Aniston walked the red carpet on Tuesday night for "Call Me Crazy: A Five Film" wearing a Christian Dior tuxedo-style top paired with slim black shorts ... and several circular marks on her back, presumably the result of cupping therapy.

By Jai W., Physical Therapist, Los Gatos, California

"This is the most convenient and efficient way to renew your BLS (Basic Life Support), for a health care provider. I am a 22 year Physical Therapist so I have done alot of these classes. Dr. Fu scheduled me immediately and provided me with one on one attention. After 2 hours, hands on training, and a straightforward test, I had my new 2 year accreditation. Simple, fast, and convenient. Thanks Dr. Fu! Sincerely, Jai W. PT"

By Oscar Hernandez, Student lead of Five Branches University

"Dr. Heidi Fu is a fantastic instructor, she is very supportive and the pace of the CPR/First Aid class is just right. I would highly recommend. The time spent in the class went by very quickly as Dr.Fu is very cheerful and very insightful. If you need a CPR/First Aid class then don't give it a second thought go with Dr. Fu for a very educational and professional class."

By Michael Brown, San Jose, California

"I was searching the internet for an establishment that has CPR training in the Bay Area, and I came across Acupuncture Retreat. The site said it has CPR classes as well. So, the next day I made an appointment with Dr. Fu and had mentioned that I needed to renew my CPR license. I thought there would be other people there as well, but she told me that she also does one-on-one teachings as well as for big classes.

Dr. Fu made it easy and went at a pace that was easy for me to understand, and she went over some things that I had forgotten as well. I took the test and in the next week I had gotten my license renewed.

I would definitely recommend Dr. Fu for anyone who needs to get or renew their CPR license."

By Robert Martinelli, San Jose, California

"Dr. Fu's CPR course was a blessing in disguise, I needed my CPR for health care workers ASAP and was unable to get into a class for over a week. I found Dr Fu by googling around on the Internet. She returned my call in less than 5 min and after explaining my situation to her she had me come in the very next day for 1 on 1 CPR training. The cost was very reasonable and the 1 on 1 was awesome.

I learned everything I needed to know and am so glad I found her. Just give her a Call/Text (408)-982-7277 and see if your experience was as easy and painless as mine. Thanks Dr. Fu"

By Johnny Bai, San Francisco, California

"Dear Dr. Fu, Thank you for the CPR training! It was very easy to schedule an appointment that worked for both of our schedules. The one-on-one session allowed me to receive the attention needed to learn CPR and any of my questions about it. All material covered was explained in a way that was clear and easy to understand. Techniques were demonstrated and explained in detail to ensure proper execution. I believe your class has successfully prepared me for my position as an healthcare provider intern. My hospital required me to have the actual CPR card as proof of certification and it was nice to have received the card in such a short time.Thank You, Johnny Bai"

By Danielle D, San Jose, California

"I took a one-on-one CPR Healthcare Provider training course with Dr. Fu a couple weeks back. She was very thorough, yet still very precise and to-the-point. I felt it was easy to ask her questions and when practicing on the mannequin, she was quick to critique in a constructive manner.

Overall, I was extremely pleased with my first ever certification class. Her office is very clean and quite, and cozily nestled in downtown Los Gatos, which is beautiful. Definitely would recommend her class to others!"

By Pierre Estonilo, San Jose, California

"I just want to thank you for the wonderful CPR class you gave last Friday. It was great to get a recap of some procedures that I kind of forgot since the last CPR class I took.Your teaching is perfect and I was able to understand everything. Thanks to your hands on practice dummies, I was able to improve my knowledge. I want to encourage everyone I know who is planning on taking the CPR class to give you a call. Thanks again Heidi."

By Barbara, San Jose, California

"I was referred to Dr. Fu by a fellow child care provider so that I could renew my First Aid/CPR certificate while looking for a new job. I feel so lucky to have found her! She made it so quick and easy for me. Dr. Fu shows compassion and professionalism during the process. I am glad to say I found a new position and my new employer was pleased to hear I had recently renewed my First Aid/CPR certificate.

I will most definetly refer others to Dr. Fu so they can also have the same positive experience as I did. High Five to Dr. Heidi Fu! Thanks again for a job well done!"
